Here at Gem Alpacas in the beautiful Mackenzie Country we've been breeding since 2002. Our breeding program is going from strength to strength producing lovely dense, fine, coloured Huacaya, concentrating on Browns and Greys of all shades and believe me there are plenty of them. Excellent confirmation and quiet nature are a must for us. We are also now extending a program slightly to include high quality coloured Suri alpacas.

Where are we?
We have two properties, the bachelor pad for all the boys is at home in Middle Valley Road, 5 minutes from Fairlie, South Canterbury. 25 minutes from Geraldine and 30 minutes from Tekapo. We also have 10 hectares right in town on the main highway to Tekapo and Queenstown. This is where all our females, both pregnant or with cria at foot are kept.

What are we doing?
We are seriousl breeding good quality coloured Alpacas, both for sales in high quality good natured animals and highly sort after fibre. We also have a range of proven stud males to improve your breeding program. A very limited number of females are also available.

Our show record speaks for itself with regular 1st place ribbons at many shows around the South Island with progeny from our own stud males.

Where are we Going?
Off into the world of breeding beautiful natural coloured alpacas from fawns through to greys and maybe even some blacks. Our main colours we'd like to work with are the browns and greys. So with alpacas naturally coming in 22 colours to choose from in 250 shades I think this will be an easy task.
